We kept it alive on slices of pear and raisins which I boiled for 5 minutes before serving because they seemed too hard for it to eat. I like extra sharp white cheddar and provolone and and mozzarella.<br /><br />As far as mice (I hesitate to comment as I haven't had any yet this year), but peanut butter works as well. Last year, we had 'a mouse' in the basement. I put the trap down (the no-kill ones, as bad as mice are in my house, I still don't want to find a dead one! Yuck!) with peanut butter in it. Kept checking every day, and nothing! Forgot for a day or two and checked again. Not one mouse! Nope! There were THREE! AAAAACCCK! The year before there was one in the attic. My kids wanted to keep it. DON'T DO THIS!! They are escape artists. Cute, but they will chew out of anything. Soft plastic, hard plastic, anything; it doesn't matter.<br /><br />Okay, enough of my mouse saga.
