good morning!

Loving me some morning light today!

It has been absolutely beautiful here in our little corner of Montana lately.

Warm days, scorching hot days, thunderstorms that blow through and amaze us with their power and then poof - gone as fast as they appeared.

Summer is my very favorite time of year. Winters are loooooong here. Spring can be almost non-existent. Summer is the glorious reward for surviving yet another year of gray and brown, and it's always worth the wait.

How is your summer going?

Heat waves? Humidity? Balmy breezes?

I'm a weather geek and I'd love to hear!

Happy Saturday!

  1. Summer has been fabulous here in the mountains of Virginia...not too hot, a little wetter than usual but perfect!! I have only had my air conditioning on a few times. :) Love your flower garden!!

  2. A picket fence surrounded by flowers is such a lovely sight.

In coastal southern California today it is cold and overcast - can this be mid July? We laugh because this weekend is the begin event on our beach - The Surf Rodeo- so of course the weather did not cooperate. It won't be a Montana rodeo. The competitors have to wear cowboy hats as the ride the waves in the surf contest.

  3. It is so nice to see you post!
It is 92 degrees here , on it's way to 101. The heat index is 99 already. It is going to be miserable outside today. We need rain very badly, but we are to get some tonight....I hope! I keep telling myself this is so much better than snow and ice!! It also isn't as hot as it was the past two years.

Your gardens look so green and fresh! Things are browning up here. Hopefully some rain will help that!

  4. What a beautiful yard! I'm super busy with kids, but taking time to visit family and enjoy the non school days with our own 4 children. It's been warm here in Oregon, between 80-90's. A little too hot for me!

  5. Love you garden view it's stunning. I am not a hot weather girl and would like it to stay 70 all summer long.

  6. Yay! A new picture/post from you!!
I found you while you've been between posts and must say I'm addicted to your blog. Awesome and wonderful. Washington is just starting our summer but they tend to pick up and linger till October so
I try not to complain if its grey. At least no rain :)

I have sunshine and light breezes as I'm on the coast...some days a little overcast or rain but I love living by the ocean!

  8. Mine has been busy. We have had rain almost 20 days in a row. So we ae a little soggy and have lots of humidity. So far the temps haven't been too bad, but I think that will be changing. Beautiful flowers you have.

  11. And what a pleasant morning that appears to be! Just lovely! We here in Southeastern Pa have had rain, rain, and more rain with some serious humidity to go with it. Everything looks lush and green and the corn in the farm fields is exceptionally tall!

  13. Hi there! It does look exceptionally lovely. We've had rain, rain and more rain. I don't think I ever remember a summer with more rain. It makes everything lush and green, but things are pretty soggy and muddy, too. I hope your summer lasts a long time!

  14. Well look who's here. Long time no see! Our summer here in Ohio has been wet, and unseasonally cool some days (though other days have been scorchers!) We had a really gully-washer of a storm the other day -- and now they're saying we'll not have rain for a while. That would be a welcome forecast, since our son's graduation party is next Saturday! Hoping for a great day.

Hope you are doing well. xo ~Sal

  15. Been missing your wonderful garden photos! Happy to hear you're having a fabulous summer... we haven't had rain since June 27th... and most days have been in the 70's... 10 day outlook is for more of the same with some hotter days thrown in... so I'd say we're having a stellar summer in the PNW.

Hope you and your family are doing well.

  17. WONDERFUL happens when I see a post from Meadowbrook Farm! I am thrilled to see you . . .
You have been an inspiration from the "get go!"
How many Zinnia seeds were planted . . . this year?

  18. I am so happy to see your beautiful flower garden!!! I really enjoy your blog and check regularly to see if you have posted, thank you so much for taking the time to lift my spirits.
We had a few days of gorgeous weather here, which is very unusual for our area. Today we are back to our regular summer weather and it is so hot with very high humidity. I hate to tell you, but I really do not like our summers in the Southern Indiana area. I am looking forward to fall.
I was wondering if you would not mind sharing some information with me? I am trying to improve my photography skills and I was wondering if you only shoot in Raw? My husband gave me a wonderful Nikon D600 for Christmas and I am trying to take full advantage of what it has to offer but I am having difficult time. I just started using Lightroom and I am about to throw my computer and camera to the street. I do not have anyone in this area that can help me :-(
Also, what lens do you use for your beautiful gardens? I also have a one and a half year old grandson, and what would you use for his portraits? I am using a 50mm 1.8 and I was wondering if I would be happier with the 50mm 1.4??? As you can imagine, he never sits still. Your high school pictures are so creative, beautiful and I greatly appreciate your talent. Thank you for sharing!!!
All my best to you, Marge

  22. So good to see your post! Your gardens are inspiring and I hope to get my greenhouse in this fall. Central Montana has had enough rain to still be pretty and not on the high fire danger list yet. Eagerly awaiting that fist tomato; it's pinking up nicely!

  23. Too wet here in my area of Virginia, yet I won't complain. The heat and humidity will settle in, in a big way this week.
Did you know that your blog is my hero blog. Happy to see a post from you.

  27. It has been fairly "cool" here in Indiana up until this week. Very enjoyable. I think we had our first [in a long time] 4th of July in the late 70s almost 80 instead of 95 and humid. It's forecasted to be in the 90s and humid all week. We received a lot of rain early in the summer. There were places flooding that have never flooded before. We have some crops that were flooded out. Everything is looking pretty nice here compared to last summerm though. Corn is standing 6-7 feet tall already! May be an early harvest.

  29. Your flowers look great! It is getting hot in northern NE. But we had RAIN this spring and it looked like Ireland for a few weeks. Such a relief after last year's drought and fires. The hay meadows are cutting lots of hay. We can handle 90's because we have little humidity and lots of wind, and our nights always cool off to the 60's. But it's starting to get dry and we could use some rain. Would love to see more pics of your flowers!!! Did you plant a greenhouse full of zinnias again?

  30. We've had crazy heat here in Toronto, but after tons of rain, so everything is quite lush and lovely. I think the gardens are loving it--our tomatoes are almost ready (a few weeks early for us!). Lovely garden photo--so peaceful and beautiful!

  31. With the crazy spring and unpredictable summer weather I have been turning into a weather geek myself. I find myself checking it on my phone at least a handful of times a day just to see if the predictions are spot on!

We just had a week of camping in extreme heat and humidity last week in WI. But this week in MN it a warm low 80's with bearable humidity the last few days. Looks like we will get a temp drop tomorrow for a few days which will be a nice time for me to get into the garden to control the overgrown of weeds.

  32. Oh dear.. so sorry to hear that you're going through this. I'm very glad that you have so much support and a wonderful, caring husband. I will do more self-examinations, I promise. You're a strong woman and I know you'll beat this. I missed you. ((hugs)), Teresa
