peanut butter pie

In yesterday's post, I mentioned the Peanut Butter Pie I'd had for breakfast.

Just to refresh your memory, here is a picture of that very piece of Peanut Butter Pie.

Not to be confused with the piece of Peanut Butter Pie I had for breakfast this morning.

I did not take a picture of that particular piece of Peanut Butter Pie, because that would just be ridiculous.

(Okay, I actually did take a picture of it, but didn't like how it turned out, and since I didn't check the picture before I ate the pie, the only way to remedy that situation would have been to slice and then dress up yet another piece of pie and then at that point the only viable option would be to eat it as well to hide the evidence and while I'll do a lot of things for a good photo, even I get a little nauseous at the thought of two pieces of Peanut Butter Pie for breakfast. I have my limits. Although in hindsight, Peanut Butter Pie is really just a lovely combination of dairy and protein and everyone knows dairy and protein are good for you, especially at breakfast time, so I really don't know what my hang up was.)

But back to my story.

Yesterday I mentioned Peanut Butter Pie, and that pie got a shout out or two in the comments, which is totally to be expected because, hello, it's Peanut Butter Pie.

One comment in particular, in fact this very comment....

.....caught my attention, because I happen to know that Valley Girl is expecting a baby.

Now I had every intention of posting the Peanut Butter Pie recipe sometime in the near future, but when a Pregnant Sister Friend is wanting your Peanut Butter Pie recipe, you give that girl the recipe and you do it sooner rather than later. It's an egregious violation of the Sisterhood Rules to make a pregnant girl wait for anything food related.

It's downright mean.

So for all of you and especially for Valley Girl, here it is.

Peanut Butter Pie

1-1/4 cup chocolate cookie crumbs (I use Nabisco Famous Chocolate Wafer cookies)
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup melted butter
Mix and press into a 9 inch pie plate. Bake at 375* for ten minutes. Cool completely.
(Please make this from scratch. It is a million times better than a store bought cookie crust.)

1 - 8oz cream cheese, softened - dairy and good for you
1 cup creamy peanut butter - protein and good for you
1 cup sugar - no comment
1 tablespoon softened butter - dairy and good for you
1 teaspoon vanilla - vanilla bean=bean family=protein=good for you
1 cup heavy cream, whipped - speaks for itself
Beat first five ingredients and then fold in the whipped cream. Spread over cookie crust and chill till firm.

Lick beaters clean.

Peanut Butter Pie....it's a good thing.

  5. Thanks for sharing. This is almost exactly the same as my recipe.... the only difference is that in mine it uses brown sugar... so it's healthier right? ;)

I must admit, I also cheat and buy the "oreo" brand premade crust. It's a dark chocolate and saves me a few steps!

    Happy holidays,
    Chris

  9. Hi, Teresa, just found your blog thru Liz at Mabel's House & wow, it is beautiful. I can't get over your photography, just stunning. I would love to read about your photos, camera, etc. so if you have any posts about that, I'd love to check them out. I clicked on Photography, but it brought up lots of posts with beautiful pics. I'd love to hear more about how you got started & if you have any tips posted.

I can't wait to read more of your posts. Right now, I can't get past the gorgeous pics. I just got a DSLR this summer & am having fun learning about it. You make it look easy, but it is certainly not!

  10. Okay. So it's been a pretty good day. I had a doctor's appointment this morning and listened to that sweet sounding lub dub of my baby girl's heart beating. I ran some errands with my trusty side kick. Made my two little girly's day by taking them out to eat at a restaurant (grilled cheese and french fries of course). Then recharged the "I'm so crafty I make humans" battery with a nap. I am now ending my day with a little time strolling through blog land. Stopped by some of my favorites....and then I saw THIS here little blog. Sweet-mother-of-Moses...my day (at 8:00 pm) has just gotten down right fabulous!!!!! Tomorrow at 8:35 am (I drop off the big sister at school at 8:30 am) I will be sauntering into the nearest grocery store with my trusty side kick and picking up a few key ingredients to mix up a little heaven on earth. You are a dear sister friend. Thank you. You have made me and my future offspring so very, very, very happy. Love I tell you. Pure love being sent your way! Now go love on that family of yours...you sweet thing you!!

  14. I could feel your "in your face; I dare you to disagree with me" conviction on peanut butter pie being a completely acceptable breakfast. And yes, I agree with you completely! (And thumbs up on your amazing willpower NOT to dress and eat that second slice!)

  15. I am making this today!! Thank you for the recipe... I am abstaining from sugar right now but this will make a certain farmer who lives here very happy!! I like to torture myself in this way :)

  16. You are so sweet! And I love that you eat Peanut Butter Pie for breakfast. If we ever have leftover birthday cake, everyone knows that I will be eating that for breakfast until it's gone! I'm not sure it has the nutritional qualities that PB pie has, but I'll still enjoy every bite. :)

  20. There are few foods as dear to my heart as peanut butter pie. You did a good thing here. You should be proud. By the way, your guest room is just perfect and that Christmas tree makes my heart beat ever so much quicker.

  21. How sweet of you Teresa to take care of Valley Girl like that. Now all of us non-prego gals can eat it too. It wouldn’t be nice to have her eating it alone--we should all support her by eating a slice or two for breakfast :)

  22. Mrs. MBF I made your pie last night for guests, and it got rave reviews. Law, that pie is rich! I couldn't find the chocolate wafers you mentioned, but I did find peanut butter oreos, so I used those with great success! Drizzled with chocolate and garnished with mini Reeses. Law. It's time for breakfast.

  23. I'm no nutritionist but I reviewed the list of ingredients and this looks like a perfectly healthy breakfast to me. Maybe a side of bacon for good measure.

This is coming from someone who had 3 oreos with her morning coffee. I salute you!
