Is it soup weather at your house?
It is definitely soup weather at my house. It's snowing and windy and gray. Perfect weather for a pot of soup.
Soup which, by the way, I cooked in my brand spanking new Caribbean Blue Le Creuset Enameled Cast Iron Round French Oven.
The manager at Macy's gave me full credit for my four Marthas, and the 7.25 in Caribbean was on close-out, so I got the deal of the day all the way around. I still have enough of a credit to get another smaller pot if I feel so inclined. It's a little slice of Le Creuset heaven.
I'm always on the lookout for a great new soup recipe, so if you've posted one on your blog, please feel free to leave the link in the comments.
Let soup season begin!
Whew -- glad to know the flying projectile situation has been resolved. Nobody wants to put an eye out while making soup.
ReplyDeleteMuch rain & gloom here as well. It is indeed soup time. :-)
Definitely soup weather here! I made a batch of potato leek last week, here is the recipe I use:

Your photos make my heart happy...lovely, lovely eye candy. Enjoy your Le Creuset! My red Le Creuset simmering away on the stove is one of my favorite things about the colder weather coming.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures make me so happy. As always, you know how much I love your blog but could you please show us more pics of your lovely home...pretty please??

I'm all about soup also. I'll email you my recipe as I don't think I blogged about it by I have in my recipe mamager. It's an Italian Sausage soup and it's fabulous.
ReplyDeleteSounds yummy Teresa! I am going to try it plus give it to my SIL who is the soup maker in the family. I wonder if a garnish of bacon would be good with this as well?
ReplyDeleteI love the colors and design of your post . . .
Beautiful pictures, Teresa!

The soup sounds delish Teresa! Not alot of rain here yet. Just breezy and chilly so far. We are suppose to get rain tonight and the mountains will get the snow. Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteDid you ever have beer/cheese soup? It's really goood. I wonder if you could add beer to this recipe? Maybe I'll give it a try.
ReplyDeleteYUMMY!! It is also soup weather here in our house, and I've been on the look out for some new recipes. Will definitely be printing off this one. Thanks!! :^)
ReplyDeleteI made soup tonight too, it's the weather for it. Mine was sausage soup. The recipe was in the paper last week. Sausage, onions, garlic, carrots, spinach, chicken stock salt pepper and tortillinis. It was good but yours looks just fabulous and the photo is mouth watering, especially with croutons!! Yum!!
ReplyDeleteIt's snowing there? Definitely soup weather! It's 70 degrees here with lows in the 50's so yes soup weather here too. Though you would probably still be wearing shorts and tank tops here. It has been snowing in northern AZ which is only a couple of hours away. But I'm not ready for snow yet. Still recuperating from the 100 degrees so I'm really enjoying the 70's!! Your soup sounds yummy!! And I love your yellow rooster!
ReplyDeleteTake care dear Teresa!
Julie
Funny I'm just seeing this and we had potato soup tonight for supper. Yours looks yummy.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds amazing and I think I have everything to make it but the bouillon.
ReplyDeleteHere's a vegetarian tortilla soup recipe I make all the time http://lilacbarries.blogspot.com/2011/08/tortilla-soup.html
I'm weeping. Curse the lactose intolerant bowels I possess! This soup looks divine - like the kind of soup that can help you solve all the problems of the worth, and soothe your hormone woes. I do believe you need to be a food photographer - I could so see you doing a cookbook girl. Really lovely post. : -)
ReplyDeleteThis soup looks amazing. I am not a big cook, but enjoy making soups. I want your chicken wearing the greens.
ReplyDeleteYour homemade croutons look even more fabulous than the soup, and that looks heavenly! It's still pretty warm here, so I haven't started making cold weather soups yet. But soon - and your recipe is at the top of my list. thank you :) diane
ReplyDeleteDefinitely soup weather in the Pacific Northwest! Your recipe looks delish!
ReplyDeleteSoups are my all-time favorite foods, and my specialty--because they're so dang easy to make! You just toss in whatever's handy! I've posted a link to one of my heartiest and easiest recipes...enjoy!

Oh it is the opposite of soup weather here. It's ice weather. Iced tea, ice blocks, ice cream... I'd even have gone so far as ice in the bath yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it's snowing there. Seriously?
http://lattenene1.wordpress.com/2011/11/12/cabbage-patch-soup/
ReplyDeletethis is a link to cabbage patch soup, so yummy!
Oh, That looks delicious! Thanks for sharing! Question....Do you use swiss or cheddar cheese? Or is smoked swiss/cheddar one cheese? I don't know.
ReplyDeleteI haven't posted the recipe on my blog, but my favorite go-to soup is chicken tortilla. I save the chicken carcass any time I roast a bird, and then throw that in the crockpot with water to cover, and that provides a nice stock to start with... I also save whatever chicken is left and chop or shred that. So I guess you could say my soup is a leftovers kinda recipe :) I throw in a can of diced tomatoes, some corn (fresh, frozen, canned, doesn't matter), beans (same thing, and I've used everything from large white to tiny black), 2 t. chili powder, some roasted garlic cloves, and salt and pepper to taste. I top with what I have on hand, but my favorites include fresh chopped cilantro, shredded cheddar, diced avocado and -- of course -- a handful of crunchy tortilla chips. I don't like to add chips until the end 'cause I'm not a fan of the soggy chip. But that's a personal preference kind of thing.
ReplyDeleteI could eat soup every day during cool weather (but hubby would mutiny so I confine it to 2-3 days a week). I have a variety of recipes that I like to rotate. But the chicken tortilla is my hands-down favorite.
My husband would LOVE that one!

ReplyDeleteNot my recipe, but amazing!
This looks so yummy! (And your pics are always so pretty.) If you're ever looking for more soup recipes, a friend of mine just recently started a soup blog called soup-a-woman. She's a hoot; I'm sure you'll love it!
ReplyDeleteYUM! I love french onion soup with bread and cheese... this is kind of like mixing it all up together. I'll be trying this recipe out for sure... by the way, not to sound stalkerish or anything but I make your refried beans all the time now... no more cans for me (well except for the canned pinto beans :))
ReplyDeleteSo happy you got the le creuset... you'll have it forever and hand it down to your grandchildren some day! Maybe I should add one to my christmas list?
~Chris
PS I love those salt and pepper shakers... very, very cute!
