so long summer

The flowers in the garden are getting pretty sad and tattered looking, but I was able to scrap together enough daisies to make one last bouquet.

Fall is definitely in the air. Even though our days are still warm, there's an underlying crispness. It's hard to describe, but you know what I'm talking about.

I thought these sweet daisies deserved one last shout out to my favorite time of year.

I know I've asked this before, but I'd love you to share your favorite season.

I'm a summertime girl through and through, with fall being my second fave.

How about you?

Summer sun, watermelon and flip flops?

Or colored leaves, pumpkin everything and really cute boots?

Maybe a blazing fire, hot cocoa and a crisp walk through the snow is more your thing.

Or do you go weak in the knees for daffodils, baby chicks and a really cute umbrella for those spring showers?

Lay it on me and then go have a fabulous Tuesday.

  1. Definitely Fall. The colored leaves, long sleeve shirts, sweaters, crisp cool mornings. The earthy smell in the air. Sitting on the patio in the evening enjoying a hot chocolate while watching the sun go down. More baking being done. Awesome!

I hope you have a FABULOUS Tuesday also Teresa!

  2. I love how you described each season in your post. I love each season and the fun things they bring. I definitely love Summer, second fall. I hate to admit it, but I only like Winter for it's first snowfall. I'm so not about the cold! Hope you are feeling well today!

  3. Fall: Love crisp, cool air, the color in the trees, caramel apples, and mums. I always have a massive sense of peace in fall. But autumn is just way too short.

Winter: Would love it if we got huge snowflakes piling up on tall pine trees with huge mountains in the background. But our snow usually flies sideways and bites. No pine trees, no mountains.

Spring: Yes! Love getting into the dirt after a way too long winter. And it's not even as long as your winter. Spring here is not committed; one day gorgeous, the next day nasty.

Summer: Love watching the grandkids swim in our lake and come dripping wet into the house for popsicles. Getting really tired of fighting the bugs and itchy bites.

    So fall wins.

  4. I think autumn and winter are my favorite seasons. It might sound weird, but it seems like they're the most relaxing time of the year.

I love the photos of the pretty daisies :)

  5. The older I get, the longer I hang onto every moment of every season. Well, you know... except winter. I will never fully embrace that one. Admittedly, I enjoy many of the things that go along with winter, but the cold, the weather? No thank you. So, for now... that means I'm enjoying the dog-days of summer -- which are supposed to be hot right? Okay, well today it's cold, so go figure. Have a beautiful day!! ~Sal

  6. My favorite season is spring with daffodils, flowering fruit trees, and perrenials coming back to life. Second is fall with its crisp mornings, gold leaves, comfortable days and cool nights. Third is winter for wood stove warmth in the house, snow dusting and dancing, hearty stews on the stove and sleeping under a fluffy duvet. Last is definitely summer for sweat, flies, wasps and too-hot-to-ride days. I do love the tomatoes, peaches and nectarines though.

  8. I can definitely see why summer would be your favorite considering where you live. ;) My favorite is fall!! Late summer in to fall makes my heart sing!! After a storm rolled through last night it is crisp and clear here today in Virginia. The temperature was a bit cooler this morning but warm this afternoon so it feels more fallish. I am loving it!! :) I love the transition back into "comfort" foods and everything pumpkin and another big reason for my love of fall is college football and baseball playoffs!! There's really not anything not to love about fall!! :)

  9. Absolutely hands down it's Autumn. I love every single thing about it. Except the part where it ends. I love Spring 2nd and I adore winter but come February I'm so done with it. Summer is my least favorite but this has been a pretty amazing summer full of gorgeous weather and great memories. I truly do try to find the best in every season. That is just more of a challenge for me with Summer. If I lived in a more northern climate I would probably like it a whole lot more!

  10. I agree it depends on where you live! I love spring and fall. summers here{southern oregon} are blazing hot-100+, winters are cold but only about one snow fall with a week or less of it on the ground.

  11. Springtime! An end to ugly winter and flowers everywhere:>)

  12. Spring and summer are my favorites. I can be in the flower garden and enjoy the growth of new things. Fall, unfortunately, starts to depress me...things are dying and it means the rain is coming. Winter here in the NW is just rain and more rain. If we get snow I am excited. I would love po see the fall in the north east part of the country!!

Love your daisy photos! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  14. Fall in the Northeast is beautiful, summer is a close second because spring usually lasts a heartbeat and after winter I need warmth!

  15. Hi Teresa. I'm dropping by after being remiss in visiting for so very long. Thus I just learned of your cancer diagnosis and kick-butt attitude in attacking the ugly "c" word. I'm not sure what exactly prompted me to pay your blog a visit...but I did...and oddly enough just had to let my little girl (age 9) know that her beloved 20-something ballet teacher has breast cancer and will be taking the next year off from teaching. Yes, she will still be managing the day-to-day affairs of the dance studio, but new teachers have been hired and "Miss Amanda" asked that we tell our daughters ourselves rather than allow them to hear or learn of the diagnosis at the studio. Miss Amanda's prognosis is excellent, but still a shock. I will be adding you to my litany of prayer intentions each evening. Peace and hugs,
    Val

  16. Fall, I love fall, I married my late husband in the fall.... Good memories last a lifetime! BUT I also love a newly fallen snow and the stillness that seems to penetrate the earth with it!

  17. Love the fall the most. Get nearly giddy with the thought of the first real cold front and temps dropping. (Think late November nearly, here in Texas), but love summer and the sun and winter and fires in the fireplace and of course spring and the flowers. Love em all!! Blessings!

  18. Summer in Oregon is fairly glorious (as long as you are not in Southern or Eastern Oregon) and I also love Fall, well, and Spring. Gardening after a long wet winter in the Spring is lovely and therapeutic. So I really like all of them but winter.

  19. So pretty. I think my last bouquet will be herbs. Our temps are in the 60's and the leaves on the trees are changing.

  20. Well I am sure many of you won't side with me but I LOVE winter, the more snow the better, keep it coming. ICE, not so much, just snow! And the next favorite is blue sky Fall with pleasant days, cool, opened windows nights, campfires, s'mores and friends. Nice wind breezes, enough so the wind chimes sing . . .

    There you have it . . .
    Then springtime
    Then summer
that is just me, and my LIKES!

  21. Fall in NC, Winter in Florida! Sunny and cool(er) weather. The Florida seasons are:
    Almost Summer
    Beastly Summer
    Still Summer
and GORGEOUS! (oh yeah, and Hurricane Season)

  22. Growing up in Canada, Winter was my fav-o-rite... but, after living in the warmer weather for many years, I could honestly say that one day of winter would be okay with me. I love different things about Spring, Summer and Fall. Hope you are feeling well :)

  23. wow...not sure why I haven't been her in a long time. but I have done a bit of back reading. Thinking of you as you navigate & travel through chemo. I am standing beside a friend who is fighting cancer, and succeeding!
Praying for your health to be totally restored.
I am thrilled to see your creativity has not lagged...my goodness my heart just about leapt out of my chest when I saw your vintage suitcases!
Beautiful room, and a family filled fall for you!

  24. What a lovely bouquet! So glad you shared the images with us. Light, bright, and oh so pretty!

Like you my favorite season is summer, followed by fall. Our summers are far to short here in NH ... barely 3 months it seems. I need more summertime than that in my life!

I hope you're feeling well, Teresa. Thinking of ((you))

  25. I didn't make it here until Wednesday. It will still be fabulous.

I'm a dual season lover. Spring is wonderful because it is full of signs of new life and rebirth, which is just enchanting to me. But, fall is my very favorite. I grew up in Northern Illinois and fall was short lived, but beautiful. The crisp air and trees set ablaze in color just thrill my soul. Oh, and as a special bonus, the things of harvest time are wonderful too. Like fields of rolled hay! I love a field of rolled hay. I could go on and on.

I hope you have a fabulous Wednesday!

  26. I am a fall girl! I live for fall. I love everything about it from the crisp morning air to the combines in the fields and mums, pumpkins and apples galore. It's just my time of year. I don't enjoy heat and a lot of sun does me in. There's just something cozy about fall.. I can't quite pin point it :)

  27. I'm a summer girl, then fall. But I'm not ready to let go of summer yet!

  28. Oh love. I do love a good daisy shot...well ANY daisy shot to be honest. I love fall. I just do. I love the food, the feel of a good Chinook wind where the air is cool but the wind is warm, the warm sweaters, the baking, things slow down a bit, the color, did I mention the food...and then there is the pumpkin spice latte.

p.s. Hope you are as well as you can be on this fine day. Hope you have all that you need today. Love to you.

  30. A Fall with Indian Summer. Not all Falls have them. The breathtaking beauty, abundance of the earth, the tucking in of nature for the winter. Sweaters, fuzzy socks, bon fires with some leaves thrown in for the memories of childhood, cool drinks for the day, warm ones for evenings, high school football. Yup, my favorite.

    Next is Summer!

  32. Loved reading everyone's replies...so poetic and reminds me why I truly love all the seasons. But for me, spring is where it's at. Late spring--like late May and early June--for a gardener, it truly is the best time of year. For a rose gardener, it's pure heaven. I wait all winter for those blissful two months, and it's worth the wait, when my Old Garden Roses burst forth with their blossoms and the air is sweet with scent. The saying, "God grows roses in the spring and man has to do it for the rest of the year" is so true!

  33. Autumn...gold and russet leaves, brisk mornings, yellow school buses, chunky knit sweaters, the football referee's whistle, dahlias all ablaze with color, cool evenings...
