groundhog day

If you find yourself scratching your head and wondering why this post seems oddly familiar, it's because it is basically the same post I wrote last week, with a few minor updates.

Whoever said that bloggers should keep their content fresh and new obviously has more happening in their life than I do.

First up, the Dave's Killer bread update.

Y'all are the best carbohydrate induced coma enablers on the planet. You've offered to go to Costco and mail me some Dave's. You've offered to cross state lines so we can do a clandestine cash for Dave's deal at a secluded highway rest stop. In the case of my friend Valley Girl, you've given me two more types of Dave's (Peace Bomb and raisin) that I need to hunt down and subsequently add to my addiction.

You understand the pain of being hooked on something, and then having it snatched away with no warning.

As my son said, "Mom, you have found your people".

Why yes, son...yes I have.

I'm happy to tell you that I'm going on a little road trip tomorrow and that road trip will take me past at least five different Costcos, so I will be able to stock up on enough Dave's to get me through the winter. If, by chance, I run out before the spring thaw, I now have a list of awesome internet friends that I can count on for re-supply.

That same road trip will take me past at least as many Macy's, so I'm taking my Marthas with me. I'm still not totally sure what my game plan is though. If I can get a full value credit for my pots, I think I could trade them for a Le Creuset without laying out any cash. My plan B is to keep my aqua blue chipped up Martha, which resides full time on my stove top because it looks so cute there, and just use it for a cookie jar or breadbox or something. Then, I'd get the Costco enameled cast iron for actual cooking.

I know you'll be beside yourselves with anticipation, waiting for me to return from my road trip so you can see how this story ends.

You're on the edge of your seat.

I can tell.

As of last night, Once Upon A Time is on my television must watch list, right alongside Revenge.

I'm intrigued. I'm confused. I had to watch it twice, and actually pay attention the second time. I think I'm hooked.

To keep up with the "update you on every tiny detail of my last post" theme, I will tell you that my soldier made it back from his field trip with out mishap, and my back-up Harvest Yankee Candle has been burned down approximately three more inches.

Or maybe it's more like four.

I'll double check and let you know next time.

Have a wonderful Monday!

  2. Oh... Once Upon a Time is on the DVR... now I can't wait to watch it! Typically I'm an HGTV on DVR gal and don't see too many commercials, especially for "other" networks but I happened to be working on something while watching live HGTV and saw a commercial for this program!

Have a great, and safe, trip!

  3. Hi,
I Love your blog! I check it everyday to see the beautiful pictures and enjoy your sense of humor.
I love Yankee Candles also, and have started to use a candle warmer on my favorite scents. They seen to last forever and the smell is more intense than with the flame.
    Keep up the good work.

These pictures are out of this world...are they all taken at your farm? They are truly heavenly! You must enjoy walking around and looking at all the inspiration that nature has given you with such joy.
I love your pictures..they are ALWAYS a huge treat!!

  5. So happy & thankful for 'your soldier!'

I feel safer knowing that SOMETHINGS are still secrets in this country & DON'T make the evening news! :)

Your barn pictures beat a sandy beach any day!!!

  7. I went to Costco on Saturday with Dave's bread on my list. I've never bought it, so I was eager to try it. How disappointing to find that our store doesn't have it!

  8. I just love reading your posts and looking at your stunning pics. That red barn with the golden trees is jaw-dropping gorgeous!! I watched Once Upon a Time last night too....love the whole concept. So different from anything else on TV, hope it lasts. And REVENGE, oh yes!!

  9. Love the pictures as always! I'm glad your son made it back safe and sound, and I hope you find lots of Dave's Killer bread! I have to tell you that we don't have a Costco here, but while I was up visiting my daughter I went to Whole Foods and asked if they had Dave's Kick Ass Bread, LOL, they said they had never heard of it...now I know why...yikes! I will have to look for it using its "real" name!

  10. you and your bread make me want to eat carbs but I am vowing to the Cooper to remain strong. I am loving the Storybook show too. I hope I am smart enuf to keep up with the plot. So far I am but no promises. I am getting dumber with each dying hormone. And fatter. And wordier.

  11. I'm happier to hear that about Revenge. It was so over-hyped that I was a little afraid of it. Although I have always been an Amber Valleta fan.

If you say to watch it, then you know I will.

Are you on the Parenthood band-wagon? I can't bemember. (as Ruby would say)

  12. And what does it mean that I don't even get the "preview" option???

  13. Now I'm intrigued. I have to try this Dave's Killer bread.

And yes, I too watched "Once Upon a Time" last night. Although some of the acting was questionable, it has the capacity to be a really good show. So, I'll watch another couple of episodes to see if I get hooked.

  14. Oh, I love Fall, and I grew up where there, well, isn't Fall. I so want to be at your house right now!! Your house is always beautiful, but Fall is sure making a run for most breathtaking:)

  15. The Dave's bread freezes beautifully! Stock up!

Re: Enameled pots - I do love my Le Creuset however, I noticed that Sur la Table has a "house version" of enameled cookware. I don't have any of that, but I have found their house brand to be high quality and good value. Their version of "all clad" is terrific! Have fun on your shopping trip!

  16. Dear Teresa, our weather is FINALLY starting to cool down a little here. As you know I had to go to NC to see fall colors! Enjoy your trip and all those stops you're making! Glad your son is safe! I'll have to check out the "harvest" candle. I am really enjoying "leaves" from BBW. Found it a few weeks ago and I had to go back to get extras cause I too hate to run out w/o backups.
    Blessings,
    Julie
Ps.. no killer bread at my costco : (

  22. Dear Teresa...I have a sneaking hunch that some time in the very near future all the Costcos of the world will start to carry our beloved Dave's Killer bread again. I will give all credit and accolades to you dear one. Today at lunch I watched my four year old daughter Elliot systematically pick all the seeds off the outside crust of her almond butter and cranberry sandwich (made with almond butter, dried cranberries, chopped toasted almonds, drizzle of honey) made with Dave's Seeded Bread. First it was the pumpkin seeds, then the sunflower seeds, next onto the flax seeds. She then declared it the "bestest fun sanwich ever!" I just love putting good food in her tummy. Long live Dave and his Killer Bread!!

  23. Once Upon A Time - YES! We are watching too - my DD and I. Happy Trails. Be safe. ~Sal

  24. how can it be that there is a costco or two (or more) in the city of my residence and I'm somehow not familiar with the Dave's bread? Clearly a glaring life omission on my part that must be remedied in a lightning flash hurry! I like your idea for repurposing chipped enamel cookware too :) take care, diane.

  27. If you have a hayloft, may I come play there? I LOVE your photos and in a different life, I am sure I must have lived on a farm with an awesome barn.

  28. Love your photo's...I wish that was my red barn at my place..made a dash to Costco's to find the famous Dave's killer bread.. could not find it at my Costco here in St George, Ut...

  29. oh gosh - where to begin. I shan't send you bread - but if there be a broccoli shortage in Montana - I'm your go to girl. What is this Revenge? Once Upon a Time? Do I need to queue it up? I just finished Breaking Bad, the last season. Fell up and out of my chair. Queue it. Glad your soldier is home. : -) And it's just a good thing you didn't buy your pots at Cracker Barrel. I'm just sayin'. I do think I'm back T - back to the land of the livin' - out of my 'funky fog'. : -) Ye shall be warned with my presence.

  30. Can I make a confession? I like to read your blog for the photos as much as your words. It's like a breath of fresh air. Thank you so much!

  31. I need to find some of that bread! I wonder if BJ's has it. Glad your son made it back safely from his "field trip"!
Beautiful photos as always! It looks so nice and fall-ish there. We've had warm-ish days mixed with too-cold-for-me days lately. Right now it is cold and rainy and we might get some snow on Saturday! Soo not ready for that!

  32. I'm hooked on Once Upon a Time too and the best part is that I think Emma can watch it. Do you realize how little network programming can be enjoyed by families? I hope you have a wonderful trip. I forgot to look for your bread at Costco. For me, not you. Although, I will think about you as I eat it!

  33. Yes, hurry back from your trip and post. Curious as to how many loaves of bread you'll buy and what pot you're bringing home!

  34. Beautiful pictures! I'm late in commenting, but I love my Le Creuset. We received it as a gift from someone who spotted it in a second-hand shop and new it's value. I'm very glad to hear your soldier made it back from his field trip safely!

  37. I had a problem with my Martha Stewart beverage dispenser {so disappointing} so I email her staff from her website. A week later the manager from our local Macys called me and offered to refund the full price even though I no longer have a receipt. Worth a try.
